Hello. I am Joe DeBoth. I have lived in Auburn Township for 21 years. I am a husband and a father, a neighbor and a citizen. I love this community’s spirit, and I want to use my decades of financial expertise to ensure that Geauga County remains a place where our families can afford to thrive for decades to come.

Did you know that it took the State of Ohio 772 days to certify Geauga’s 2023 financials? That is one year and 407 days from December 31, 2023. This is not acceptable in a household, or a business office, and it should not be acceptable in a county office, funded by you, the taxpayers.

I am running for Geauga County Auditor because I believe our community deserves a leader who brings modern, high-level business standards to local government. With over 35 years of experience managing financial departments and modernizing systems to industry-leading practices, I don’t just see numbers on a page—I see the health of our community.

As a “numbers guy,” my approach is built on clarity and foresight. I am running to ensure that Geauga County is not just reacting to change, but is prepared for the future. My goals are to:

• Modernize Fiscal Oversight: Implement the same high-efficiency systems I’ve managed in the private sector to ensure every tax dollar is tracked and optimized.
• Ensure Stability: Protect our residents—from the middle class to those on fixed incomes—by identifying financial “cracks” before they become crises.
• Lead with Transparency: Bring a fresh, independent perspective that prioritizes the big picture and long-term sustainability over the status quo.
